What happens when change occurs faster than a culture can adapt?

Florine Schmid and Marie Ruwet travelled together to Saqqaq, a remote settlement in northwestern Greenland, that is shaped by change. Through a hybrid methodology that combines journalistic and artistic approaches, they tell the story of two young adults facing the universal dilemma of whether to stay or leave their home community. 

The exhibition explores questions of resilience, belonging, and dreams for the future. 

Trained in photojournalism at DMJX in Aarhus and recipients of the ECCA DMJX Grant, Florine and Marie focus their work on remote communities and investigated whether they can survive in a globalised world.

Florine Schmid og Marie Ruwet rejste sammen til Saqqaq, en afsidesliggende bosættelse i det nordvestlige Grønland, som er præget af forandring. Gennem en hybrid metode, der kombinerer journalistiske og kunstneriske tilgange, fortæller de historien om to unge voksne, der står over for det universelle dilemma: om de skal blive i eller forlade deres hjemlige fællesskab.
